Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern and Non-western History

Job Description:

The Department of History and Political Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor specializing in the history of the Middle East, beginning July 1, 2021. Candidates with additional specialties in African history, South Asian history, and/or the Islamic world are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities will involve up to four courses a semester, including survey courses in world civilization and interdisciplinary coursework in international studies, along with advanced undergraduate coursework in the successful candidate's area of specialization. The position also carries the expectation that the successful candidate will assume a leadership role in the International Studies degree program.


Requirements:

While a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential, particularly the ability to conduct both in-person and virtual classrooms, Norwich University is committed to junior faculty developing scholarship through a supportive faculty development program. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred, though strong A.B.D. candidates will be considered.
