Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to safely and efficiently package quality products in a manner that is consistent with HP Hood LLC standards. As a member of the Quality Assurance Laboratory and Production Teams for a manufacturing facility, you will perform routine testing of water and dairy products as well as support the Production department when not performing Quality lab functions. Work with other departments to insure all company and regulatory standards are met.

Essential Functions:

  • Quality Department Functions:
    • Cover department vacations/ personal days off as needed.
    • Follow standard procedures and detailed instructions.
    • Obtain samples for testing of raw materials and finished product.
    • General lab preparation.
    • Operate and maintain lab equipment.
    • Accurate data entry of test results.
    • Maintain State Lab Certification program for App N. testing.
    • Follow Hood GMP and safety policies.
  • Production Department Functions:
    • Perform all tasks and functions assigned related to Master Sanitation program for the department.
    • Conduct Preventative Maintenance assignments for fillers, tanks and other equipment as assigned.
    • Comply with all policies and guidelines outlined for production and sanitation processes.
    • Maintain weights, codes, packaging, temperature levels and sanitizing to ensure quality products.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors and peers. 
  • Participate in cross-training efforts to maximize departmental efficiency.
  • Proper documentation under all regulatory and Hood policy requirements. 

General:

  • Able to demonstrate and follow all company safety policies and procedures.  
  • Execute assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Available for required overtime to support business needs and/or critical situations.
  • Perform assigned duties satisfactorily within Hood, Good Manufacturing Practice and Regulatory standards and in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in special teams representing the production department.
  • Maintain a clean & safe work environment.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Hours of work and days off could change anytime within the 7-day workweek cycle based on business needs

Requirement/Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • College degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of lab experience preferred.
  • Excellent math and computer skills, specifically MS Excel, Office & Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, detail orientated, solid decision making, ability to work independently with little supervision. 
  • Lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. 
  • Standing for long periods (8+ hours per day)
  • Climbing ladders

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent 
  • Reading & writing proficiency (English language) and ability to identify colors.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Multi-tasked individual.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to move at a quick pace. Frequently
  • Standing: Long periods (up to 8 hours).

  • Walking: Frequently.
  • Bending, Twisting & Stretching: Occasional.
  • Lifting: Heavy (up to 50 lbs): Occasional.
  • Climbing:  Ladders to make connections and add packaging materials.  Occasional.
  • Pushing/Pulling: moving pallets of paper up to 200 lbs. Stock packaging materials: Occasional.
  • Environment: Wet and dry, temperature variations from 50 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.  Floors are wet and occasionally slippery due to product spills and cleaning process (slip resistant footwear is required). Constant
  • Use of chemicals: Occasional.
  • Noise: Moderate to heavy (hearing protection is required). Constant.
