The Topnotch Resort, located in Stowe, Vermont is currently seeks an experienced Restaurant Manager tocoordinate the activities of the outlet's staff in order to deliver quality product and to service to restaurant customers. The responsibilities of this position follow:

  • Assist in hiring, training, evaluating and coaching all front of the house employees following guidelines set by the Director of Outlets, Restaurant Managers, General Manager, and Human Resources.
  • Implement hotel policies and procedures pertaining to the Flannel, Roost room service, and pool service.

  • Assist in proper scheduling of all Flannel, Roost, room service, and pool service in accordance with hotel business demands following weekly forecast and budgets.
  • Oversee reservations of outlets.
  • Instill serving standards, proper sequence of service and table sets along with monitoring guest service with table touch's and guest comment cards and handling of guest complaints for improvements.
  • Assist in seating or service of guests, as necessary.
  • Inform Restaurant Managers of any tools/stock which need to be ordered, maintaining proper pars in all areas from china, glass and flatware to liquor, beer, wine, water and food.
  • Ensure all equipment for the restaurant is maintained and stored properly.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all positions supervised and have the ability to fill in any of those roles as business dictates.
  • Maintain high level of sanitation as prescribed by the Vermont Health Department and company standards.
  • Assist and implement promotional programs on an ongoing basis along with employeeincentives for up selling.
  • Perform inventory of perishable goods, non-perishable dry goods and capital goods.
  • Monitor inventory to ensure that stock is rotated properly to avoid loss due to spoilage and ensure reusable items are returned to stock. Follow guidelines on budgeted product.
  • Assist in all departmental and organizational meetings.
  • Responsible for labor cost and restaurant food & beverage cost as it pertains to budget and make decisions around adequate staffing level
  • Coordinate restaurant operations with the Restaurant Manager, Chef and Director of Outlets, other hotel managers and outside vendors.
  • Write and file MOD reports regarding activities.
  • Hold or able to gain Vermont Department of Liquor Control Certification.
  • Oversee handling of cash and credit card transactions accurately and according to accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of hotel layout and amenities, and have the ability to offer information and promotion about them to our guests.
  • Properly handle all equipment and supplies (i.e. china, crystal and silver).
  • Vigilant to all guest needs regardless of whether or not they fall under your primary functions
Experience and Skills


The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.

* Considerable skill in math including determining percentages.

* Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.

* Ability to communicate effectively,both verbally and in writing.

* Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.


Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. College degree preferred.

Position requires two-fiveyears previous Food and Beverage and supervisory experience.

Licenses or certificates:
Food Service Sanitation certification. CPR certification preferred.
